Cecrops accepted the creation of the Olive tree and named the city Athena. Records show that Athens has been in existence for over 3,400 years and was first inhabited by humans between 11th and 7th millennium BC. Athens dominates the whole of the Attica region and it is the center of arts and philosophy. It is the home of Plato’s Academy and Aristotle Lyceum and the first home of democracy. It is the home of western civilization and the 6th most capital city of Europe housing two worlds heritage site; The Acropolis of Athens and The Middle Age Daphni Monastery. Athens is blessed with a rich cultural and historical past.
